Leanda Cave – 2010 mid season update Victories at Escape from Alcatraz and Florida 70.3 highlight impressive first half July 30, 2010 – At this time of the year, most professional triathletes are turning their focus to preparing for the Ironman World Championship in Kona on October 9th. Leanda Cave is among them and is currently at her Australian training camp in Cairns. May 17, 2010 – Just two weeks after winning Escape from Alcatraz for the third time in 4 years, Leanda Cave showed she is a force to be reckoned with at any distance by winning again at Florida 70.3 yesterday. Cave made up for a sluggish swim by posting the fastest bike and run of the day to win in an overall time of 4:14:22. Cave’s time was a new course record, which broke her own course record from last year by over 60 seconds.

Escape from Alcatraz was no disappointment this year, despite not taking the win for a 3rd time. I was very happy with 2nd. The weekend prior I raced in the Rev 3 Triathlon (half ironman distance) in Connecticut. That was a bit of a disaster, as I trained pretty much through it. I ended up in 7th place. It was one very toughest races I have done, over a super hilly bike and run course, and as I found out, not the sort of race you dont want to do on tired legs.

I am currently enjoying my time out in Cairns, Australia after a year that saw some great results, good results, and ones I would rather forget. Its really nice to chill out and see my parents for the first time in a couple of years. They have been my biggest fan well before I took the road of being a professional triathlete.

Podium finish caps off impressive season November 11, 2007 – Clearwater, Florida – Just four weeks after making her Ironman debut at the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona Hawaii where she finished 8th, Great Britain’s Leanda Cave topped off an impressive season by finishing 3rd overall in a time of 4 hours 12 minutes at the Ford Ironman 70.3 World Championship held this past Saturday in Clearwater Florida.
